About Us

We are a small group of volunteers that wanted to do something to help our furry friends in Adams County Ohio. We started transporting dogs from the Adams County Dog Pound to Veterinary Hospitals and to Rescues. It's really been a rewarding experience to help these dogs, and now cats, get a second chance to have a good life in a loving home. You can follow us on Facebook and check out what we are doing and what we have accomplished!

Tina & Tanya Need HELP for their mange treatment!

Ok folks! These are the two sweet dogs I fought so hard to save. Ohio Hound Rescue & OHR NE / Three Sisters Pet Rescue rescued Tina and Tanya from the Adams County Ohio Dog Pound. I could say a lot about how anyone could let them go for so long without help, but I think you will see more than my words can say. So, here's the bottom line. These sweet pups are in good care now and will get the treatment they need. It may take months and will be costly. Please help give any amount you can to this ChipIn for Tina and Tanya. If everyone gave $5 it would add up very fast! 400 people can do it! I know there are 400 caring souls out there that will want to help Tina and Tanya!
Thanks so much!

All monetary proceeds will go to Lickety Split Pet Transport courtesy of Michele Kammer. Michele has been an advocate for saving dogs and pups from the Adams County Ohio Dog Pound for several years. She knows LSPT works hard to pull the dogs from the pound, transport them to the vet, keep them in boarding, and get them to their rescue.

Lickety Split Pet Transport has been helping rescue, pull, hold, and transport the dogs and puppies of Adams County Ohio for a year now! LSPT was founded by Melva Jo Kimball and Edward Kimball of Adams County Ohio. We also do most of the posting on the Humane Society of Adams County FB page, posting all of the dogs in need of good homes. We are in constant need of cleaning supplies, vaccines, dog and puppy food, and gas money.

We are a small non-profit group in a very rural area. We love our furry friends and want to help them get the best care and find their furever homes! We work with the Adams County Ohio Dog Pound and the Humane Society of Adams County Ohio. Our primary focus is to get dogs from Adams County Ohio into rescue so they can find their furever homes. We network with other transporters and are willing to help other counties and states get pets to rescue.

Scentsy began with a simple idea — a safe, wickless alternative to scented candles — and quickly grew into one of the most successful direct selling companies in the world. This wickless concept is simply decorative ceramic warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame.

THE STORY OF WES, THE BLIND AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG

I first met Wes when he came to the Adams County Ohio Dog Pound a month ago. He was brought to the pound by the warden who had a call to go pick him up in the country. The people said he had wandered into their yard. Wes was in bad shape upon arrival. He was as blind as a bat and thin because he couldn't find food. We have no idea how long he had been wandering around on his own. He was wobbly on his feet, too. He was put in a large pen off to himself away from the rest of the dogs, so he could have a little peace while adjusting to his new surroundings. He was given a soft bed, fresh clean water, and stinky canned dog food, so he could easily find it.

After a couple of weeks, he was doing better and was less nervous about his surroundings and was gaining some strength. Many people showed compassion for Wes by helping him find a good rescue or adopter. Folks even tried to find a nice sanctuary for him to live out the rest of his days. Nobody had room for Wes!

Then something wonderful happened! A couple of very nice ladies who had helped with getting another Adams County Pound dog safely to his rescue in Michigan, wanted to help Wess! Sandra wanted to foster him in her home, but she needed a rescue to sponsor her. Gaye started pounding the keyboard and made phone calls and found a good rescue that would take Wes. Last Day Dog Rescue has saved many shelter dogs in need! So, now we had a rescue and foster for Wes. All I had to do now, was go to the pound and pull him and take him to the vet for an assessment, shots, and a health certificate. My husband Ed did this for me since I was working that day. Our plan was to get him ready on Tuesday and take him to meet his transport on Thursday.

That plan started falling apart! Our Country Vet is a very smart caring lady, who just happens to love Australian Cattle Dogs. Once she saw Wes, she knew he was older than 8 yrs, which was the age in his bio. She guessed him to be more around 12 or 13. He was very blind and had been for years. He suffered from diabetes and cataracts. The pressure behind his eyes was very painful. Jenny did a heart worm test on Wes, next. His results confirmed what she suspected. He was in the final stages of heartworm disease. This was also contributing to his imbalance when he walked. She advised that due to Wes's age and health condition, he would not survive the necessary treatment and surgeries needed! We were all devastated!

Ed brought Wes to our home where we made him a nice comfortable bed and gave him fresh clean water and more of his favorite stinky canned dog food. All of us involved with rescuing Wes from the pound took our time to discuss our options. We came to the very hard decision to let Wes go to sleep and not suffer anymore. On Friday morning at 8:35 am 8-17-2012, while I held Wes and hugged him one last time, with tears in my eyes, Wes slowly went to sleep and his life faded away.

Gaye had worked so hard to find Wes a nice place to live in Michigan. She feels that the right thing to do by Wes, is to let him complete his journey. She is having Wes cremated and his ashes sent to her home in Michigan. Our Crazy Michigan Dog Lady has a heart of gold!!!

If anyone would like to help with the cremation expenses, please contact Gay Pierce @  ody-burgle@comcast.net
Thanks!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Champ is an unaltered adult male Plott Hound: approx weight 70 lb approx age 3 yrs.

He is out of the pound now and living with a foster. He is seeing the vet this week for neutering, and dental work.
Please donate to Champ's ChipIn! Small amounts add up fast! Thanks!

Mulberry Street Dogs Of Adams County Ohio Need Help!!!

Here's the story and description of the Mulberry Street dogs in West Union, Ohio: Adams County.

                                   Awful House Outside

On a quiet street in a small town in the poorest county in Ohio, there sits an abandoned house, covered in vines, barely visible to passersby.  The house is rotten and crumbling.  Boards hold up the front door.  Carpet covers the openings where windows had been.  The floors are made of bare dirt.  Inside the house, eight loving dogs are living alone, abandoned when their owner was sentenced to fifteen years in jail for a crime he committed twenty years ago.  Despite the criminal past of the owner, the dogs were loved.  All but one have been spayed or neutered.  They have collars with current licenses, and are being fed and watered by kind-hearted neighbors.  Some of the dogs are shy and wary, some are quiet, some are boisterous and jolly, but all are desperate for human attention. Each would make a wonderful pet if given the chance.  Any help finding these dogs loving homes or safe shelter with a rescue would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thank you!

Lickety Split Pet Transport got our 3 precious pups, (Tucker, Tilly, and Gee Gee) from the pound to Grove City, so they could get on a special transport to PA. This transport was set up just for them. Now, they can be fully vetted and get the training they need so they can find their forever homes. While they wait, they can run in the grass and play! I love happy endings!!!
On a side note, LSPT had last minute car trouble and work schedule conflicts, but still managed to do this transport. They will be asking for more transport help in the future to get our Adams County dogs to safety. Please consider donating your time and gas to help us. We will post for more help soon.
Also, if anyone can donate a good running van to the HSAC (501C3), please contact Christine Troutman. mountjoyfarm1@frontier.com With a van donation, either from an individual or company, more dogs can get to vet clinics and rescues. The value of the van can be written off your taxes. Once we have a van, then we will need volunteer drivers and gas card donations to the HSAC. Thanks!

Top to bottom: Tucker, Tilly, and Gee Gee.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Christine Troutman, our Humane Officer of Adams County, and her family during this time of grief and loss. Chris's husband, Bruce Troutman: Manchester, Ohio Chief of Police, died yesterday, May 6, 2012.  He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
